“I support the expansion of the Downtown Women’s Center to 434 S. Downtown Women's Center

Established in 1978, the Downtown Women's Center was the first to serve mentally ill and elderly homeless women on Los Angeles' Skid Row. The Center is committed to providing each woman with the personal support necessary to help her achieve self sufficiency. With our broad range of individualized support services, we are nationally recognized as a successful prototype program for homeless women.

The Center operates a drop-in Day Center providing nutritious meals, a safe community, and social services for homeless and formerly homeless women. Next door is our Residence--permanent, low-cost housing for 47 women.

The Downtown Women's Center, a secular organization, is supported entirely through donations from individuals, businesses, social and religious organizations, and foundations.
