Comments: Walmart is notorious for sacrificing every community value in order to sell at a low price. Wherever they go the general area around the store begins to seem an extension of their parking lots. They never contribute beauty to their neighbourhood. We need to protect the delicate feeling of community that Hope Valley Farms has by opposing the construction of yet another Walmart on M. L. King Jr. Parkway.

Comments: We are not in favor of having a Wal-Mart that close to the community. Already Kroeger has to have ARMED POLICE in the store by late afternoons!! What is a WAL MART going to bring

Comments: In addition to the concerns stated above, we are deeply concerned about the impact that over-development is having on Southwest Durham. There is an overall environmental concern that is a very important variable as well. Any additional commercial development of the magnitude of a Wal-Mart is not an asset to any part of Durham, much less Southwest Durham, which is currently in a state of being of over run with commercial developments. Please find an alternative development option that is eco-friendly and considers the needs and wants of the citizens in Southwest Durham.

Comments: We do not want Wal-Mart building across from Kroger at the end of South Roxboro Road in Durham. This will increase traffic in our area as well as crime. It will also depreciate the value of our home.

Comments: A "big box" Wal-Mart is not what this location needs. Such a store will only lead to further over-commercialization of this area. Development in line with the existing surroundings would be much more appropriate.

Comments: I ride my bike every day to work in downtown Durham. My route includes MLK from Hope Valley Rd. to the American Tobacco Trail. The traffic is scary as is. I hate to think about what the traffic will be like if a Wal-Mart is built along the way!

Comments: Why do we need another Wal-Mart in the area There are plenty here and adding another one serves no purpose in aiding consumer's interest. Allowing the construction of this store does, however, create a whole host of problems, the most important of which is the eroding of the distinct nature of Durham so that it resembles any other American city.

Comments: There will be too much traffic from Walmart in a area filled with neighborhoods and young children. This will be a tremendous detriment to this otherwise safe and easily navigable area. There is plenty of space for a Walmart closer to the Southpointe area if they so choose.
