Durham City Western Relief Rd
The Petition
Durham County Council is currently considering a proposal to build a “Western Relief Rd” between Sniperley Park and Ride and Broompark. Its estimated cost is £31.5 million for 1.64 miles of road. The road if built will run through beautiful Green Belt agricultural land between Sniperley and Broompark. The road will cause immense environmental damage, lead to higher CO2 emissions, more noise pollution and more traffic.
We the undersigned consider that the proposed “Western Relief Road” is totally against the interests of the people and environment of County Durham. We believe it will lead to higher CO2 emissions, more car journeys and damage to a valued and important rural area. We call on Durham County Council to reject the proposal.
