Name: Alan Jack on Feb 25, 2010Comments: Roller Derby is picking up pace (no pun intended) throughout Britain as a youth activity with no attachment to underground or criminal cultures or any other negative stigma. Its one of the few women-led sports to reach the level of popularity it has. Dundee Council needs to be supporting these kind of endeavours as much as is humanly possible - if they're concerned about the McTaggart centre, they should offer an alternative.Flag

Name: Eva Hopkins on Feb 25, 2010Comments: This is unacceptable and extremely unfair. The council is always harping on about people getting more active and more involved in sports, yet when a group of people come together to try and achieve something they knock them down and take away the one thing they really need and for no justifiable reason! It is unbelievable.Flag

Name: Caroline King on Feb 25, 2010Comments: Surely any attempt to bring members of the community together in a fun, friendly environment, as well as offering an alternative form of exercise should be encouraged instead of ignored. We not only need a steady place to train, but an appropriate venue (concrete floors do not meet WFTDA regulations), it's time for the council to stop pawning us off and actually help us out!Flag

Name: Colin Gray on Feb 25, 2010Comments: I think it is shocking that DCC are failing to support a local sports team at a time when the health of Scotland is shocking. Limiting clubs in this way is wrong, especially when the gear they wear is designed for indoor tracks! If getting £10,000 from the National Lottery fund isn't enough to tell DCC that Roller Derby is not a gimmick then hopefully this petition will show that the girls have a lot of support locally and probably nationally too where teams ARE supported by their local councils.Flag

Name: Jodie Hazzard on Feb 25, 2010Comments: It's about time the girls got the opportunity to be in an awsome "kick ass" sport. The council are too busy giving "neds" and trouble makers holidays, and youth clubs. They are basically rewarding little kids for being a pain in the ass. Dundee City Council, do something amazing for once and give the girls the space and chance to show that they are bloody amazing at what they do, and I bet they get Dundee recognised for something new and exciting that will hit the UK hard soon. I SUPPORT DUNDEE DESTROYERS.xFlag
