Dear parents,

On the 1^st of July 2011 the non-profitable Playgroup attached to the Duke of Norfolk Primary School will close permanently due to the relocation of the infants to the Royal Site. Unfortunately there is no planned space at the Royal site for this highly successful and oversubscribed Playgroup. Having had two children benefit from attending Playgroup I, as many of you will too, appreciate the valuable work done by Playgroup in building our children’s confidence, generating enthusiasm for future learning and easing the transition into school.  The school also recognises this. Having Playgroup attached to the school is, therefore, invaluable. Moreover, this closure will lead to a lack of provision of pre-school places in the local area. This, in addition to the geographical locations of alternative pre-schools, many children will as a consequence not be able to attend and reap the benefit from any pre-school.

I have therefore decided to create a petition to urge the local education authority to reassess their building plans for the relocation of the infant site with the aim of incorporating an additional block to host either a Playgroup or Nursery provision.  If you support our efforts to provide a Playgroup then please add your signature below.
