Please help save the Duke of Lancaster! She has been beached and encased in a concrete grave near Mostyn for over 25 years, gradually falling apart. She's been unloved, disused, derelict, abused, infiltrated and it's time to turn the ship from an eyesore into a landmark. Into a piece of history! The last of her kind the Duke is a British Railway Steamer, originally a triplet, she had 2 sister ships the Duke of Argyll & the Duke of Rothesay both sadly now scrapped. The Duke of Lancaster is the LAST survivor and other Railway Steamers have been scraped too. If you live in the area, are interested in ships or have a history with the duke; SHOW YOUR SUPPORT, SIGN THE PETITION!

Stephen Sales, United Kingdom1 year ago Comments: One of the very few remaining 'classic steamers' a firm reminder of a time gone by. She was also built in Belfast by Harland & Wolff which sadly no longer build ships. Along with her sister ships she was one of the mainstays between Northern Ireland and England. She remains an important part of maritime and social history. She deserves to be saved.
