As you may know, October 4,2013 Dudley Elementary was impacted by a bomb threat made to the attached Northside school.

The school has 2 systems in place to make parents aware of a situation like this. Each has a use depending on the severity of the situation at hand.

One is an email and the other is an automated phone call.

The school sent out an email that failed to reach the parents.
Many found out about this event by a note sent home with the students.

This was an epic failure of communication.

I believe that to insure the safety of all the students there needs to be a monthly email & automated phone systems check put in place to ensure that this failure never happens again.

As parents we have to release our children to the school and all the staff daily.

We also have to trust the "safe guards" put in place by the district to ensure that we, the parents get critical and timely updates in the event of an emergency.

Our school district needs to hear our voice loud and clear.

We are requiring them to check these systems monthly to ensure the efficiency and accuracy of the system that they designed for us to put our trust in.

It is my hope that Dudley Elementary School will agree with the value of checking their automated email/phone system monthly.

Thank you. Please forward this to your friends and families to sign.
