Sarahjane MorganI am a GSD owner have 3 beautiful dogs and I am also a petsitter and dog walker so appreciate that unfortunately some owners are irresponsible BUT I think that this is totally irresponsible of the Authority to do such a thing as to sentence so many well loved family pets to death. What is wrong with bringing back dog licensing, that would stop all the irresponsible owners from owning ''DANGEROUS DOGS'.

trevor coombsDo the people who make these decisions live in the real world? It amazes me how such decisions can be made by people considered educated and intelligent. Is there any research ever done into what to me are obvious consequences and subsequent after effects? Makes you wonder who these people are, and what planet they come from.

michelle mc cleanThis is absolutely disgraceful, they cant take peoples family pets away from them. These dogs are not treatening and are safely keep within the family home and not running loose on the street causing chaos. They'd want to punish the owners who have dogs running wild and remove strays from the streets instead.

David DeanKeep our dogs free 4ever !!!!
AnonymousThis should not be allowed!!! There must be a law to stop this.
rosanne warrenI myself own a staffordshire terrier, i'm from Dublin/Tallaght. i'm disscusted with these so-called Humans(Gormly&Friends)i'm contacting local TD'S letting them know how i feel about the whole thing. i would like to know when & where the next protest is taking place as i cannot find any, thank's Rosanne Warren

mariea coleThis is straightforward discrimination against council tenants using the fear of losing their homes, as an enforcement to comply with a completely useless and ill-thought out piece of legislation regarding so-called dangerous dogs.

MelindaOVER MY DEAD BODY will my friendly Staffordshire Bull Terrier leave me without my consent. I have a lot of friends with dogs under your "list" and this will cause a major outrage amongst us dog lovers.
wayne colganits a disgrace, what sort of people come up with these crazy ideas, for one this list needs to be reviewed in partnership with the proper people that know what they are talking about plus they've no right telling people to get rid of a dog thats in their family longer than these idiots are in their power abusing jobs
John Pham
Alison WaineAs proved by the DDA in the UK and various legislation across the world, breed specific legislation does NOT work. For God's sake have some sense and look at the facts
helen carsonhumans are more vicious than any dog there is, they hurt and kill for pleasure. A dog attack is normally through irrisponsible dog owners and never for pleasure so who is worse???i think all humans should be put down and killed off if this is the road we are going down.I own an american bulldog and a rottweiler x labrador an neither has ever harmed a fly so why should they pay for an idiotic persons uneducated views on dogs in general.keep dogs an get shot of the idiots who made this law!!!
NatalieThis is a rediculous idea, it's not the breed that is at fault, it is individual dogs and owners. I own 2 dobermann's and they are the most gentle dogs in the world. I am discussed that people are so arrogent and naive to blame a breed!
Joanna BottiglieriIll conceived and irresponsible. You are treating the sypmtom not the cause. There will be a minority of bad owners causing problems, the problem does not lie with the dogs. Deal with these owners not the dogs. What do you think will happen now? They will just move to different breeds of dog. There is absolutely no evidence to support the claim tha one or several specific breeds are more aggressive than any other. There are not bad dogs just bad owners. Don't have a stupid knee jerk reaction approach this is a more constructive way. You may alleviate a few problem areas in the very short term. But in the main you will be causing uneccessary heartbreak for many people. It's totally uneccessary.
Christine Woodssome people do abuse their dogs nd shouldnt b allowed ta have them but thats no reason 2 stop people who love their dogs keeping them!!!!!!!!!!!!!
marie mc garvey
Kelly Ann WinkworthWhy persicute dogs that haven't even done anything? It's disgraceful!!!

stephen redmondI think this ban is a disgrace. i am a german shepherd owner and she is the sweetest thing ever
Natasha ColeThis is sheer discrimination not only against dog ownership but also council tenants. So the guy next door who has managed to buy his ex-council house can have one of these breeds but a tenant can't. What has that got to do with tackling dangerous dogs?
Mary Lynne DoleysBanning certain breeds will not accomplish the goals you seek to achieve. Educating dog owners and the general public, fining irresponsible owners, and arresting repeat offenders is the best way to ensure the safety of your citizens and the welfare of all dogs.

liz williamsdisgusting, irresponsible, dictatorship!
Aisling McKoneits a complete kneejerk reaction. no proper consultation with animal welfare agencies has been done. its the OWNERS who are to blame who treat with agression, get agression back as a fear defence. please do not punish the animals. ban the owners from having them.

A StubbsI think it is not reliable to group all dog characteristics as breed characteristics. I know some well behaved Alsations and some crazy Collies. Also some some breeds can be nasty! Individual dogs/owners should be assessed. Although a breed behaviour reccomendation/index/warning syatem could be employed.

AnonymousAbsolutely ridiculous! it is not the breeds of dog that are at fault it is irresponsible owners. In the wrong hands a labrador can be more dangerous than all the breeds that are going to be banned. Dublin council should research dog behaviour, they obviously have no idea what they aer doing. People should be educated about owning dogs, I work in the pet trade and have never met a unfriendly Rottweiler. Are they going to ban certain people from having children next just in case they miss behave?

karen davisonI feel very strongly about this issue, and can't believe that this isn't some infringement of basic human rights that you feel you can dictate to people what breed of dog they can or cannot own. These breeds by law have to be muzzled in public, this should be sufficient to guarantee public safety.

AnonymousWe do voluntary work at our local animal re-homing centre, coming into contact with all these 'so-called' dangerous breeds. We can confirm that it is dangerous owners, not dangerous dogs who should be banned. Think again, Dublin City Council!
