Paula Doohan | ban the deed not the breed
Natalie Finch | I can not quite believe the ignorance demonstrated by Dublin City Council with regards to behaviour linked to certain breeds, If you actually spent time with Proffessionals in the industry, You will be made more than aware that dog behaviour is down to the owners and breed is irrelevant. I also would like to make a point that it is Orgainsations like the Council that are in the Prime posistion for promoting Responsilbe Dog Ownership and aid with re-education.
Jenny Eustace | It is stupid to stereotype breeds. If this goes ahead what will happen to all the perfectly healthy 'Dangerous Dogs??'
Michele Brusey |
Vicky Kelly | It makes no sense to ban certain types or breed of dog. A Bichon Frise could be taught to fight if that's what the owner wanted it to do. The energy should be spent re-educating the owners, not punishing the dogs.
Joan Dawson | There is no such thing as a "dangerous breed" only dangerous people, and they are the one's responsible for making a dog dangerous! It should be made compulsory for potential dog owners to obtain a licence, and go through a test to see if they are worthy enough to own such a loving animal! The council should NOT be allowed to ban dogs of any breed, just the Indiscriminate people from owning them!
Una Gillespie | A stupid decision which will not be enforceable and does not deal with irresponsible owners. Blame deed not breed.
Julie Abbott |
pam shaw | this is nothing short of scandalous! this does not make logical sense, why not teach people to be responsible don't take away their right to have a dog'this is just not right!!!

Fiona Parker | This is whole heartedly wrong every dog, as with people, should be treated on a individual case. Not all dogs are the same, it depends on their owner!
Joanna Ors |
| 13 | Anonymous | Responsible dog ownership is needed.
It is the few irresponsible owners who get all dogs and owners a bad name.
What have all these dogs and owners done to have such thoughtless unnecessary action taken? |
Delma Rae |
Fenton Webb |
Ben Miller | The owners are the problem - not the dogs. Any dog can turn if not well trained or handled and as a result dogs who so happen to be one of the mentioned breeds will be torn away from their loving families for having a bad name. Ban irresponsible careless owners instead!
Tricia Lewis | This has not been thought through and someone who doesn't like dogs has made a serious error. They are our best friends and the only problem with them is HUMANS let them sown. A dog is a dog some people just do not know how to have a chilled out dog. Contact Jan Fennell the dog Listener, to get some understanding.
Jacqueline Murk |
Kathleen Murray | I disagree with the ban. It won't be effective in controlling anything except the purse strings of the council. Put some money into education and more animal welfare inspectors.
Kimm Howe |
Jane Haggerstone | Punish the deed, not the breed
Roy Jackson |
Jenny Callaghan | This completely ridiculous ban will not solve any problems related to aggressive/fighting dogs. Instead it will create a whole set of new problems and innocent dogs and their owners will suffer.
Anne Rainbow |
Peter Banks |
| 26 | Mark Needham | A nation of animal lovers ?
Clearly the council know nothing of responsible dog ownership. Every dog is an individual and should be treated as such, not by the length of it's legs and the colour of it's coat - all of that is down to humans breeding for a certain look - it means nothing to the dog, in my experience dogs never worry about what they look like they are just dogs all with very different personalities. In effect you will be killing Man's Best Friend.
Such a loss of innocent lives - how can you all sleep at night? |
C. van Kuijck |
Mike Morris | Again another knee jerk reaction from local government without any rational thought of the possible consequences
Mike Morris | Again another knee jerk reaction from local government without any rational thought of the possible consequences
| 30 | susan matcham | I cannot think of why such an unjust law could be put into force. What are you going to do for police dogs use poodles!
Well guess what Poodles have as many teeth as a GSD and are just as big.
Please rethink this there are people out there who can really help. |
Dave` | Such stupidity and such a waste of public money
Lynda Finch | Its not the dogs its the owners...... they need educating!!!
marina gates fleming |
nina charlton |
Katherine Edge |
Heidi Nunn | This idea will not work, it is the people that need educating, not the dogs that need to have their lives ended through no fault of their own.
Darren Fripp |
lankshear | heartily disagree with such an ill thought out and totally unresearched plan - totally unfair - will just lead to more unnecessary suffering and cruelty both for the alreay ill treated dlgs who will suffer even deeper under cover and for the gentle much loved pets with responsible owners who have done nothing to deserve losing their lives - sheer stupidity
Rebecca Goddard |
Birgitte C. Soendergaard |
sheelagh dale | totally unacceptable - why should the innocent have to suffer yet again by illinformed decisions - this is liberty taking in the full sense
sheelagh dale | totally unacceptable - why should the innocent have to suffer yet again by illinformed decisions - this is liberty taking in the full sense
Sarah Hewson | A blanket ban on certain breeds is a ridiculous and knee-jerk reaction to this problem.
kate hurcombe | How ridiculous is this?? I have worked with dogs for over 10 years and have received several bites - none from any of the breeds listed on this petition!! How these breeds can be classified as "dangerous" I really don't know.
Louise Gorrigan | The dogs breed does NOT detirmine whether it will be aggressive. This ban will be a waste of money that could be used for so many worthwhile causes
Catherine Doohan | defo a case of burying their heads in the sand.Look beyond the dogs( humphries) and spot the bigger picture. its the HUMANS !!!!!!!!!!!!not the DOGS!!!!!!!!!
Andrea Jones |
Patrick | Dogs will respect those who respect them!
Shona Moon | This is discrimination and ignorance of the most deplorable kind and quite simply it CANNOT be allowed to happen.
theo stewart | a cull of councillors would make more sense
