Name: Eric London on Oct 23, 2009Comments: I am concerned about the impact gas drilling will have on the air and water of the Sullivan County area, the increased congestion and the adverse impact it will have on Sullivan County as a travelling destination given our new Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The cummulative effect of gas drilling must be carefully given consideration before this proceeds!Flag

Name: Lili & Edward Packer on Oct 23, 2009Comments: We need more time to assess the impact this will have on our water and air quality. We lived and worked 2 blocks from the WTC; after 9/11 we were told it was safe to return to our home and jobs; well, I believed them, and now I have leukemia from the toxic air!! I do not want this to happen to my family members. Please give us time to save this area and our families.Flag

Name: Kathleen Jeffers on Oct 23, 2009Comments: I urge strongly everything that is stated in this petition. Gas drilling is a very dangerous practice for the health of our water, both here in the Catskills, and the water that is supplied to NYC, not to mention the added pollution (CO2 emmisions) and noise and traffic from all the trucks that will be going in and out of the area.Flag

Name: Jason Gerhardt on Oct 23, 2009Comments: I strongly urge you to extend the comment period by at least 60 days for the public to gain sufficient awareness of the scale and scope of potential gas drilling. I understand the DEC has ownership of this project regulations, but I will remind you that you are public servants, working for the residents of NY state, the wildlands, and the waters. We need more time to look into this with a fearless attitude. No stone shall go unturned!Flag

Name: Myron And Carol Greenberg on Oct 23, 2009Comments: Once commenced, the drilling would become a disaster for all citizens living in the area if the present proposed regulations as envisaged in this draft study were to be the only remedies for the inevitable fiscal and environmental problems to come. Those of us affected need more time to work to secure better safeguards for the common welfare against the uncaring commercial exploitation of common resources now in the offing.Flag

Name: Sharon Cacioppo on Oct 23, 2009Comments: You have to extend and even enlarge the impact studies. No one and I mean no one has a right to poison my wells, ponds or creeks -- all of which I have worked my entire life to own. I also live in NYC and you have to understand and walk the Reservoirs that they want to poison. Giving in to Foreign interests, Wall sTreet interests and Haliburton Interests only belittles NYSDOC. For a few Hay farmers you are willing to risk the health and water supply of NYC as well as the Natural preserve we call the Catskills. Stop and Think.Flag

Name: Casey Lambert on Oct 23, 2009Comments: In light of the enormity of making a mistake in granting drilling permits too quickly, DEP should extend the comment period for several months. The drinking water of hundreds of thousands of people may well be ruined forever by this process if it is inadequately restricted and monitored. Haste may well be calamitous and the results irreversible.Flag

Name: Pat Shearer on Oct 23, 2009Comments: Your children will be drinking this water, and air. You know in your heart of hearts that gas drilling cannot occur in our watersheds. Please stop this process. Gas Drilling must adhere to the Clean Air and WAter Act. They can not be exempt or we will all be drinking their water.Flag
