DEAF STUDIES DEGREE PROGRAM

We, the ones who have signed this petition, are supporting the efforts to develop/reinstate a Deaf Studies/Interpreter/American Sign Language (ASL) AA Degree and a 2+2 BA Degree in Deaf Studies and Interpretation on the Daytona State Campus (DSC) in Daytona Beach, Florida.  A reinstatement of the AAS Degree program for Interpreters is also supported.  The AA/BA degree program would provide the in-depth study needed to produce the MOST EFFECTIVE, HIGHLY SKILLED, clear and accurate UNDERSTANDING of the Deaf Culture.  The Deaf have been adapting themselves to a hearing culture and mainstream hearing/oral educational system for long enough.  By signing this petition we, the undersigned, acknowledge the NEED for the hearing, and Deaf, to support the addition of the AA/BA curriculum at DSC so that we can bridge the gap in our cultures. Each signature is highly valued and greatly appreciated!
