Name: Peggy Gillard on Jun 14, 2002State:Country: CAComments: Drunk driving is no excuse for murder. imagine the nerve of a person who selfishly want to get happy, have a few drinks, forgot problems and the world. How dare him risk the lives of innocent people because he chooses to drive and drive. this crime is paramount in our society and will not be tolerated. Give the maximum penalty allowable, no matter who it is. there should be no diplomatic immunity for anyone drinking and driving. what a strong message that would send. Turn society's thinking around, drinking and driving is not o.k. and will never be o.k. educate and change the laws of every province and state in north america. DO A NO TOLERANCE POLICY. IF YOU NEED HELP, I WILL BE GLAD TO HELP IN ANY WAY I CAN. CONSIDER THIS PETITION SIGNED. THANKSFlag

My sister has just been informed that the man that murdered her 36 yr old daughter and her 4 teenage children two years ago has had his tariff of 27 years instead of 5 life sen. Now we have to think of him again where we had thought we could get on with our lives as best as possible but now we have to fight for justice!!!Flag

We have not went to trail yet. 1 week after she was released on bond she was out drinking and trying to drive again, but thanks to her best friend turning her in her bond was revolked and she is in custody again. i think people her kill while driving drunk shoud be charged with second degree murder, not involuntory manslaugher. As for your case 8 months is nothing compare with two lifes that he took and all the years they still would have got to live if he would've have been so irresponsible.Flag

Name: DARREN BECKSTEAD on Mar 1, 2003State: UTCountry: USComments: That is absurd and disrespectful to those who he killed!!!! Drunk drivers are getting away with irresponsible killing of the innocent, while surviving the death toll accidents that they create. He, and EVERY drunk driver, should be given no mercy, as that is what they do to everyone around them on the roads. They knowingly consume a mild-altering drug, get into a vehicle, and inevitabley the innocent gets killed. It makes no sense whatsoever to actually consider they should be given leniency. The alcohol company should be held liable, too. They are the ones who (know that there is an all too realistic probability that their product will lead to a death or deaths) make these deaths realistic, and try to hide behind the "we salute responsible drinkers" lie. I have never had an answer, that made logical sense anyway, as to what a 'responsible drinker' is. The ONLY responsible drinkers are the ones who don't drink!! Everything else is just a justification to drink; thereby accepting all responsiblilty knowingly, that they become deadly weapons on PUBLIC roads. They should take some responsibility, considering that they are the ones who put the bullets in the gun, and turn the safety off. I find it ridiculous and insulting that the way laws are enforced are to punish AFTER the fact. Then, they get a lawyer who finds some stupid loophole to free a killer. There should be extreme stiff penalties, and let it be known to everyone, that these selfish, dangerous criminals, should know to make them think before they drink. Like, a minimum of an automatic 20 years in prison with no chance of parole, not 8 months. After the 8 months are up, how many more people is the system willing to let be killed If, and very realistic when, he and any other killer, takes another life, those who let these killers free should be given penalties as "contributors" (accessory maybe) to the next killings. When will the law start to protect the innocent, and stop ignoring these dangers until after someone else gets killed I ask this...How many more people must dieFlag

You can treat it and treat it and treat it, but it keeps coming back. There is no safer place for a disease that cannot be controlled and kills innocent human beings than contained in a secured facility where it can be controlled.Flag
