Name: Steven Rice on Jun 25, 2007Comments: I agree that the helpline should be a 24-hr service. Whilst having no doubt that the current service is excellent, the "only in working hours" nature of the helpline means that, in all probability, a very significant proportion of potential service users are missing out on getting help ourely because they cannot get help at the moment or time they would most need it. I support any initiative that assists in scaling up the helpline to a 24-serviceFlag

Name: Collette O' Connor on Jun 26, 2007Comments: As an outreach worker,I feel strongly that we should offer an out of hours service, both to drug users and their families. Most crises happen at weekends, even an on call telephone service would help.Flag

Name: Maria O'Mahony on Jul 18, 2007Comments: I fully agree that there should be a 24/7 helpline and more action taken by the Government to assist families caught in the net of drug misuse. It should be made a priority on the Ministerial listings for Cabinet. So much money is currently being wasted on drug rehab programs where there isn't a direct link between the centre and the abuser's guardian through 'confidentiality' issues .. it just isn't good enough. Drug abuse is rampant in the country at this stage and there just isn't enough resources to protect our families or to offer support to those that need it.Flag
