Name: Shelle Michaels on Dec 8, 2008Comments: Dear Attorney General-designate Eric Holder, Soon you will be making decisions and possible changes in regards to the status of the U.S. States Attorneys appointed across America. North Dakota is primarily known as a Republican state. Governor Hoeven is Republican and is consistently rated within the top 2 favorite and most respected Governors in the nation. Our Congressional leaders are all Democrats and are highly regarded and respected across the nation. This itself clearly shows how North Dakota functions in a bipartisan manner and works under Mill’s Principle of Utility, as in what is the greatest good for all. This regard of position trickles down to our appointed U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley. Retaining Drew Wrigley as North Dakota’s U.S. Attorney would be a great start at "making good" on the new bipartisan pledge for American unification. I would like to interject my opinion, and would appreciate your serious consideration of my bipartisan request. When someone is performing well, why should they be replaced for purely political purposes I strongly believe that North Dakota’s U.S. Attorney Drew Wrigley should remain as the appointed U.S. Attorney for North Dakota. He has the best interest of the state in his scope and has a track record that is very impressive. I would like to see Wrigley retained in North Dakota as the 17th United States Attorney. U.S. Attorney Wrigley and his staff can be credited with an aggressive enforcement approach, and strong working relationships between federal, state, and local law enforcement for a dramatic increase in the volume of federal cases handled each year in North Dakota. Since 2001 the United States Attorney’s Office has tripled the number of criminal cases prosecuted yearly and has led statewide and regional efforts to combat drug trafficking, violent crime, gun crime, internet crimes against children, and corruption. A great example involves the case of Dru Sjodin, whom was abducted on November 22, 2003 from Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her body was found in a ravine near Crookston, Minnesota on April 17, 2004. She was kidnapped, tortured, raped, and murdered. North Dakota’s United States Attorney Drew Wrigley was assigned to prosecute the case in 2004 for the United States of America. He was involved in every aspect of the investigation of the suspect and the trail. The case finally went to the United States Federal Court in Fargo, North Dakota in July of 2006. The defendant was found guilty by twelve of his peers in September of 2006. Since the jury’s verdict the attorneys for the defendant have elected to appeal to the limit. One appeal is now pending and probably won’t be heard until well after you are sworn into office. Drew Wrigley is the person for the job!Flag
