The DREAM (Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) act was a federal legislation which allowed immigrant children to receive financial support towards collegiate education and possibly complete emigration to the United States upon graduating from high school. It was reformed many times from 2001 until it was removed in 2010. During that year many immigrant based high school graduates were not able to attend the college of their choice or any college institution because of financial reasons. In many cases this was because of lack of citizenship, which meant they would not receive federal aid.

The renewal of this act is an important need for many undocumented students who have been in our country for numerous years. Some of which have been hereagainst their will because they were to young to decide were they would spend the rest of their lives. We should not punish innocent young children of undocumented or green-card holders.
