Government has started filling an area of the Great Salt Pond on St. Maarten described as "North Dijk" with sand as Government has announced it will construct a Drag Racing Strip in this area which is on the St. Maarten Monument List. If you are against: 1. Further destruction of a Monument. 2. Noise pollution for surrounding areas and beyond (Madame Estate, Hope Estate, Upper Princess Quarter, Guana Bay, Philipsburg, Little Bay, Zagersgut, Mary's Fancy, Cul de Sac etc) 3. Wasteful government spending, lacking any kind of long term vision. 4. Projects that will benefit few but inconvenience far more people. Please sign this petition, which we intend to hand-over to the Minister of VROMI shortly, so a building stop can be issued. Alternative use of Tax Payer money: Instead of building more sport facilities which Government has demonstrated not to be able to maintain (examples: Raoul Illidge Sport Complex, Melford Hazel, Little League etc), we urge Government to invest in current sport facilities: starting with Raoul Illidge Sports Complex. New schools behind Raoul Illidge Sport Complex can then make use of the upgraded facilities as well as hundreds of residents that currently make use of the dilapidated facility at present. Raoul Illidge is a Multi Sports facility, attracting a wide array of sporters leveraging tax payers money to its fullest. Signed: Residents For SXM .
