Free Dr. Aafia

We believe in peace, justice and fairness. In a democratic society torture and injustice cannot prevail. The case of Dr.Aafia Siddiqui is a stark reminder to us all that unless we adhere to our values we are in danger of putting our future generations and ourselves at risk at the hands of those who defy all norms of democracy and humanity. Dr. Aafia Siddiqui is a female prisoner in the United States accused of crimes she did not commit and has gone from an independent neuroscientist to a frail creature who has been raped, tortured and separated fromone of her children who issuspected to have been killed by her captors. Her mental health has deteriorated to the point of ‘psychosis’. She has been strip searched in male prisons and abused. To put it simply, her body and soul have been systematically destroyed. All decent people who believe in justice and fairness should deplore such behaviour and stand up shoulder to shoulder with those who dare challenge the abusers. For this reason, we urge you to join us in bringing an end to this woman’s inhuman treatment by the authorities. We appeal to the US & UK Governments to take responsibility for ensuring that Dr.Aafia Siddiqui's case is dealt with fairly, competently and humanely and in accordance with the letter as well as the spirit of International Conventions and human rights.

  • Hari Terrible injustice has been meted out to this woman. This is not the kind of world that we should live in, a world where a human being can be treated like this, tossed around in unfair and biased trials, the results of which were not decided by facts, but by the emotions of jurors. She may not be faultless, but she has been treated far too unfairly, and the circumstances involving her conviction are ludicrous, and should not possibly stand in any fair court of law. This woman deserves to return to her motherland, even if only to serve the rest of her sentence near her family.
