Name: Marc Stress on Oct 25, 2009Comments: Transportation and business-friendly initiatives are critical to the future of Syracuse. RE: Transportation. We need more than Busses. Trollies, Trains, Monorail will allow more people to get in and around the city more efficiently. Sidewalks should stretch from Syracuse to Dewitt along the Boulevard. RE: Safety. Underscore first that Syracuse is safe today. Encourage confidence. RE: Aesthetics. Is there an Aesthetic code in Syracuse There should be. Hold parking lot owners to the same Code for property maintenance as high-rise owners.Flag

Name: Tommy Thompson on Oct 28, 2009Comments: I love the fact that we have a group like CNYspeaks putting a clear vision for the future of downtown together alongside and on behalf of regular everyday citizens of this fledgling city and giving us a clear voice of power that actually is making an impact on the direction of downtown as well as the city of Syracuse and people’s everyday lives. Thanks and keep up the yeoman’s work on the behalf of the citizens agenda for downtown Syracuse, New York.Flag

I am tired of all the fights, lotering, and garbage this intersection has created. I just hope the current city officials follow through with the plans to clean things up downtown on the 300 block! Name: John H. Giles Jr. on Feb 4, 2010Comments: In terms of Development Why are most of the proposals/attempts aimed at making a declining sector and economic hub and less about the historical and intellectual capital that has remained consistent in Syracuse. Can the sustainable efforts also extend into the 15th ward [The South Side] this time?Flag

Name: Robert Poormon on Feb 25, 2010Comments: I spent a little time in the "Wedge" neighborhood of South Minneapolis and now for the first time have an idea what "a neighborhood" should feel like. It needs density. It needs mixed use. It needs sidewalks and street-level vitality. It needs lighting and color. We need to begin to shake off car culture and encourage everything else. --Part of this is that people around here need to evolve a bit. I wish I had some money to throw around--there are at least 2 buildings I'd like to buy and live in and form a sort of arts commune...Rick Destito and Bill Delavan are local arts heroes to me. The City needs to get off the backs of little people trying to bring fresh stuff to town...I was told that the Red House spent A YEAR getting jerked around by Syr in the matter of SIGNAGE, ferchrissakes...gimme a break. Then I heard from a young couple in Eastwood who had to deal with yards of red tape to put a shed on the back of their burger stand...this while big players get special deals and spend years sucking money out of the city. Without Syracuse there would be no Jamesville, no Clay, no No Syracuse, no Fayetteville, no Camillus. Get real, sub-folks, the city is the engine... That's surely enough for now...thank you for the chance to vent...Flag
