Columbus was not a hero. He was a greedy man who killed innocent Indians. In the words of Whitney DeWitt, "his great accomplishment was the destruction of a population. How is that heroic?"* I, as the creator of this petition, want all US schools to stop portraying Columbus as a hero. I also want the US government to remove Columbus Day from our calendar.
