Comments: It's the irresponsible owners who are to blame not the dogs. we can't expect dogs to behave like anything other than dogs whatever the breed. parents should never leave a chid alone with a dog no matter what breed it is

Comments: I think people who own rottweilers should be warned that if their dogs seem out of control or vicious they should take care handling them and put a muzzle on them. But I still think they should be banned. I have always thought it was the owners fault and that rottweilers should not be banned, until today. I was just tying my dog, Lila, a rough collie girl up outside the co-op. A rottweirler was being walked by a boy who was being paid to do it, it wasn't actually his dog. But the rottie was growling at Lila and suddenly it went out of control and hurled itself at Lila, biting her around her neck and shaking her. I could have almost been certain she was to die. Eventually the rottie pulled off, by this time a crowd of people were fighting to pull the vicious dog off, Lila had blood pouring out of her neck and teeth marks there. Me and my brother and mum was crying, I felt sorry for the boy walking it, it wasn't his fault. Lila had to be taken to the vets and the rottie was put down after getting the police and dog warden involved. Yes, I Think rotties should be banned, today was the scariest day of my life, my best friend was near to being killed by a rottweiler dog.

Comments: I have a rottweiler and I love him to death.. No ROTTWEILERS are not vicious......ignorant people make them sound as these bad animals who are killing everyone. My dog is very calm, loving, playful, sweet, energetic and makes me laugh because he's noisy...and I have met other rottweilers who have the same qualities....So ignorant people get educated about the breed.... and let Rottweilers be loved.

Comments: I think there should be a ban on rottweilers as household pets becasue they are simply not. Originally they were bred to hunt and to kill and this has been ingrained into them. All dogs can bite this is true..but this is a strong and lethal animal, which has proven that it can suddenly turn and kill....even if they have not shown signs of aggression before. Putting children and these dogs together can be dangerous I know, so to protect children from both the animal and what may be irresponsible pet ownership I think there should be a ban. A childs life is not worth risking and if this is what it takes then so be it.

Comments: Ban ignorant people not the breed. Rottweilers as puppies were never asked to be born into this world and it us up to us HUMANS to raise them properly. I own a rottweiler and wouldn't trade her for the world. She is a certified therapy dog who visits nursing and senior homes.

Comments: I have had several rotts in my family since I was a kid and none of them have ever been mean or bitten. If you chain any dog outside and it has no contact with humans or worse yet has contact with abusive humans you are asking for trouble. Dont fault rotts because they are powerful dogs and when mistreated or ill trained they do damage. I have met more little dogs that are mean and have bitten then rotts but the little dogs are less likely to cause damage due to their small size so the bites are shrugged or laughed off. By banning a breed of dog you are slapping the face of all of us responsible owners whos dogs are well adjusted and well trained. Lets put the blame where it belongs on poor owners who want the dog for status like a big gold chain around their neck. Gun bans have not slowed down gun violence and banning a breed of dog isnt going to stop dog attacks. Either people will move on to the next big dog breed or they will find mixed mutts to get around the bans. I would support a national registry for owners to weed out the bad seeds.

Comments: As a Rottweiler owner and rescuer, I feel that BSL is not an effective way to prevent dog bites and attacks. Check the Netherlands who recently lifted their BSL on Pit Bulls and Rottweilers, after finding that the legislation did NOT lower the incidence of dog bites. Better public policy and laws regarding the owners would be more effective, not banning the breeds

Comments: They are a gentle loving family dog if raised in the right environment and not just tied to a tree or owned by druggies or people trying to raise their ego's. Ban the deed not the breed, there is no bad breed, just people who raise them with no responsibility.
