We are in opposition to a proposed commercial retail and restaurant plaza development, at the already constrained intersection of Northwood and Dominion. Area residents have serious issues pertaining to this proposal, because it would introduce additional vehicular turning movements at an intersection that already lacks the capacity to move traffic safely during peak periods. This site has insufficient on site parking and the property is significantly undersized for the commercial development being proposed. This proposed development would compromise the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. Because the lot is not compatible for this type of commercial use, it would negatively impact the surrounding neighbourhoods. Given the very serious concerns that exist in this proposed plaza development, we urge the Planning Standing Committee and City Council to reject this application outright.
