What about the low income families that have nowhere else to play and excercise their pets and are trying to abide by the law Let the city find their money somewhere else...Do people have to pay to use the beach or tennis courts or public parks Why are the canine citizens of Chicago being targeted Shame on the Mayor if he allows this to happen!

    Comments: Why cant the countys concerns be addressed through the city permit that every dog is supposed to have and only costs $5 That way ALL dogs in the city would be under scrutiny and not just the dogs at the parks. I would venture to guess that most irresponsible owners arent using the DFAs anyways.

    Comments: I am very disappointed in CPD's decision to make dog owners pay an additional fee. It is highly discriminatory. Why are you not taxing parents who use children's parks, people who use the lakefront path, people who use the tennis courts, people who use city pools, etc. The ONLY public park in Chicago I frequent is Margate Park. It's ludicrous that dog owners are the only people who are paying this fee.

    Comments: This is alot to ask since there has been little to NO maintenance by the city for Hamlin Park Dog Area. How can you expect all dog owners to afford this We cannot all afford this fee, especially with multiple dogs. I think the Walkers and people who MAKE money should be charged more, and us less.

    Comments: I agree that we should NOT have to pay to use the dog parks. I personally do not take my 2 dogs there-but that is because they are pit bulls and most people are afraid of them anyways. I do, however, believe other people have the right to bring their dogs to the park just as much as people have the right to bring their children there. I'm sure the dog owners pay taxes (probably more taxes than most) and should be able to use the public park.
