Name: Inga Kasatkina on Aug 23, 2005State:Country: USComments: We appreciate the opportunity for our Jack Russell terrier to meet with other Jacks and socialize in protected, professionally supervised environment. Jacks are special kind of dogs, very energetic and at times hyper, and they can act aggressive. Their socializing is essential to ensure the safe and pieceful co-existence of them and people of Seattle outside the Great Dog. If Great Dog is taken away there are simply no other places and people willing to work with a group of very challanging dogs like our Jack Russell terrier meet-up group. Thank you, Judy.Flag

Great Dog is an outstanding community retail and grooming business as well as training facility; it's doggy daycare is a vital part of a dog's mental health. It is NOT a kennel, where dogs are boarded overnight. Great Dog is an outstanding retail partner in the Northgate/Pinehurst community.Flag

Although I moved last fall, I now drive by there to drop my dog off on my way to work in downtown Seattle. Closure or re-location of Great Dog would be a hardship for many owners and dogs.Flag

This is a great solution, compatible in an urban and/or suburban location. Please redefine your zoning regulations to meet a real need for modern working families.Flag

It should be noted that many of us don't feel that we could ethically own a dog if it wasn't for this great service. As we get older, we appreciate having a cannine companion even more. The quality of of our lives may be greatly appreciate, but not theirs- if it were not for the day cares attentions.Flag

They increase shopping traffic in the Pinehurst area and tax dollars to the city. I can't imagine why the City would even think about shutting down such a business!Flag

Name: Jim Hardman on Aug 23, 2005State: WACountry: USComments: As a 20 year resident in the neighborhood, I was pleased to see Great Dog move in. They provide excellent retail and daycare services. My wife is a professional dog trainer, and it's a well known fact that "latch key" dogs often end up in shelters because they destroy things out of boredom and loneliness. Great Dog, as a Daycare facility, provides attention and activities for these beloved pets. It is NOT a boarding kennel, boarding dogs overnight. There should be a clear distinction. The training classes Great Dog offers alone are a great public service. There are many "better" dogs out there due to Great Dog.Flag

Name: Sommar Kramer on Aug 23, 2005State: WACountry: USComments: Great Dog is a vital part of the community both for humans and our animal companions. The provide immediate and necessary services to reunite lost companions, a safe place for our companions to be during the day, and immense knowledge for new and seasoned companion animal caretakers. Unhappy, stressed, unsocialized, and neglected animals become unfriendly and dangerous to themselves and others through no fault except the owner's. Great Dog's services help mitigate these problems by giving animals a fun, social, and positive place to be when away from their caretakers. Great Dog also helps to encourage spay and neutering, clean animal care, and healthy animals. Healthy and happy animals are more desireable and less likely to be abandoned by their owners, to become the responsibility of the city or its citizens. Please help to create responsible and considerate zoning laws for dog daycares that encourage their use by caretakers, for the benefit of all citizens and the animals themselves.Flag

Name: Sherry Brown on Aug 24, 2005State: WACountry: USComments: My dog, Kodiak, has been going to daycare for about a year and a half. Full-time daycare is not an option but a must for us. Kodi is a husky mix and all husky when it comes to socializing with other dogs and people. He just wants to see world and thinks the way to do that is to sneak out of our fenced yard and go. He has been brought home by the police twice. He is licensed, microchipped and attends daycare. He has been at Great Dog Daycare for the past couple of weeks and loves it. I started him there because of the great reviews I got and their website makes coming to daycare look like so much fun (I also hope to have him try their Adventure Park field trip). Kodi needs not only interaction with other dogs, but the staff as well. Daycare has made him a much more contented and mature dog. He comes home from daycare happy and tired. When he is at daycare, I know he is safe, well taken care of and loved. If he doesn't attend daycare for a few days, I need to walk him. Before daycare, he was out in front of me (on a 30-ft. leash)straining to go faster. Now when we walk, there is no straining. He is still in front of me, but probably only 10-15 feet and there is some slack in his leash. I strongly feel that we owe all domesticated animals a responsibility to be properly taken care of. Great Dog Daycare goes a long way to helping me be a responsible dog owner. I simply don't know what I would do if Kodi and I didn't have Great Dog for him to attend.Flag

Name: Heather Norberg Stewart on Aug 24, 2005State: WACountry: USComments: I brought my dog to Great Dog the day after I picked her out. We used the daycare, not because our dog is spoiled (as implied in the newspaper article) and not because she is sick, but because she needed a safe place to play and run on the days that we weren't able to take her for a walk to the park.Flag
