   Comments: I have been a Chief Illiniwek fan for more than 50-years. Not to beat the proverbial deceased horse, but the Chief should be the University's symbol and mascot. I believe the Chief recognizes and is respectful of the University's and the State's Native American heritage.

    Comments: Chief Illiniwek will always represent the University of Illinois to me. I sing Illinois Loyalty and Oskee-Wow-Wow with pride and reverence as do so many others. The Chief is a revered symbol, beloved by any who know the University and his history. Do not replace him with some silly meaningless mascot.

    Comments: I am a proud Illinois Alumni (2003 and 2005) who is also of Native American descent. I was proud to have Chief Illiniwek as the symbol representing the U of I. I was deeply saddened to see him be removed. I would rather have the memories of the Chief live on, than be replaced by something less meaningful.
