   Comments: This is a sad excuse for a petition. No one here understand that the chief will never be brought back, or else it will forever bring shame upon the university. You will forever be known as the Indian givers, taking giving the native american's their small victory ending the shame on chief Illiniwek. We must respect their opinion on the genocide of their people. There is a no change vote ballet so that is all you deserve, but a new mascot/symbol will eventually be integrated, and this generation of students can either show they are close minded and don't know how to maturely handle a subject by trashing contest entries. If you truly believe UICU doesn't need a new symbol then you should be calm in your knowledge that you believe no change vote will win.

    Comments: why dont we turn this into a positive??? instead of erasing the history of the area and the Ilini forever, why not keep the chief and make all students attend (and pass) a cultural studies class that educates students about the rich history of the area and against stereotypes and racism?
