As a recent alumna (class of 2012), I know that the support of the Chief still far outweighs the loud few who have appointed themselves political correctness police. Preventing the further tarnishing and disgrace of this great symbol of our school and state really means a great deal to thousands of Illinois residents and University of Illinois students, alumni, fans and who love and are united by his spirit. Stay classy, Illinois; we've had enough scandals and cover-ups without pretending the Chief and the Illini Confederation of tribes never existed.
