Comments: Getting rid of Chief Illiniwek serves as an example of political correctness going too far. When I was a student, the Chief's dance was, in some instances, the most exciting part of the football game that I was attending.

Comments: Chief Illiniwek unified the campus before the NCAA arbitrarily pushed him out. Any new mascot will divide and anger the campus. This is evidenced by the reception the OB Bird received in the early 1980s.
