    Comments: I was nearly born on the UofI campus, I was raised an Illini and graduated an Illini. Of all these things I am proud. The Chief was the perfect symbol of all I grew up with and all I worked for. It was cowardly to set him aside and I would rather the University remain symbol-less than replace him.

He pays tribute to the Native Americans that once roamed the lands in what is now the Central US. By erasing his image from our University, you begin to erase a proud heritage. Allow the symbol of Chief Illiniwek to represent an outstanding, world reknown university.
