This petition is formed under the belief that there is no place for advertisements on jerseys in the NBA. The game is already saturated with stoppages in play to pander to commercials. The argument that NASCAR, English Soccer, The WNBA and the NBA D- League use Ads on their jerseys to no ill effect is an insulting one. The NBA is a global league on a global scale and should hold itself to higher standard than this. More so, those leagues do not have the benefit of numerous commercial breaks to gain their revenue. The NBA has perhaps too many commercial breaks if anything.

I turned on my television today and saw a commercial for this upcoming season that infuriated me. ESPN's tagline for this season appears to be "This is Your Game". This is apparently our game but a game where we are so undervalued that against our will we will be given, sold, and expected to buy jerseys that represent Coca- Cola more than this history and sanctify of our teams. If the NBA truly does believe that this game belongs to the fans I would expect them to actually listen to our gripes and not send automated email responses to every fan that emails you their complaints about jerseys.

The worst part of the NBA's deal with the devil is that there is no ways fans will benefit. There will still be just as many commercial breaks, just as much sponsorship and just as high ticket prices.

I have been blessed to watch tremendous athletes that in my younger years I even referred to them as my heros. It pains me that a future is fast approaching where my son's memories of his future heros might include a fast food brand slapped across his chest.

I now wish to speak to Commissioner Silver directly. Remember all that good karma you had after the Donald Sterling fiasco? Things were going so great between us. You were on the fast track to becoming the greatest commissioner in recent memory. Now this. Please keep that sterling (no pun intended) reputation in check.

So please NBA. Keep one, just one, part of the game's history intact, Keep the jersey clean. Keep Red Auerbach from rolling over in his grave. Do not ad up. Please and thank you.
