AKC to divide Division 8

The petition

We petition the AKC to divide Division into two separate divisions. One division would consist of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming while the remaining states of Oregon, Washington, Nevada, and Idaho would remain in their own division. Reasons for this request are as follows: Majors are virtually unobtainable in the petitioning states because of the significant numbers of exhibitors in Oregon and Washington. Because of that, the numbers required to obtain a major are typically higher than the number of breed exhibitors in the 3 state requesting separation. With the continued increased cost of gasoline and ripple effect on food and lodging, cross country travel for majors is impractical.
