As an essential part of the GW, we as students deserve better from our administrators. We deserve to be treated as valued members of the GW community and not disposable sources of income. We deserve to be treated as partners in lifelong learning and not potential delinquents. We deserve to be treated with the same respect by our administrators that we provide to them. Recently, we have seen a GW that we never let ourselves believe existed. We saw our Greek Letter Organizations be investigated by SJS while they simultaneously turned a blind eye to similar issues occuring in GW funded programs. We were told that the actions being taken were for our own good and the good of our community while our fellow students were dragged into interviews and accused of wrongdoing when they did not even commit violations. We saw administrators attempt to deceive these students into making statements that distorted the truth and belittle them as if they were intentionally harming their community. Worst of all, we know that this is not the first time that these wrongs were committed nor will it be the last. We cannot continue to stand by while students are not afforded the rights they deserve and the respect they should receive. Therefore, until we as students are no longer treated guilty until proven innocent, no longer have to complete our education under the specter of undo prosecution, and no longer fear the administrators who are supposed to be our partners and educators, we pledge to DIVEST from GW and only donate to scholarships and other funds that directly benefit fellow students. Further, we pledge to encourage our friends and family members to do the same so that we can once and for all send a unified message to GW that we will no longer accept what is unjust. We are not asking for much, but what we are asking for is fundamental and inherent and should never be denied to any person.
