Keep the Best, Dismiss the rest!! Solution to the Strike

I am not any one special in this community or any where else, I am not a business owner or a pillar in the community, but what I am is a father that cares and have had enough. What I see are teachers demanding more and more. Administration making offers only to be refused. This is a two-way street and it requires give and take on both ends.
To be a teacher takes a special person, teachers take this job with the desire to help our children, to help our children become the best that they can. The teachers are there to listen to the student’s problems and needs and to give them a pat on the back when they have done well. I fail to see that in district 182. What I do see are teachers that do not seem to be concerned about how this is affecting the students, they are more in this for themselves. Kids, what kids??? I have seen teachers that when asked if they could help a child after school point blank say no. That teacher stated that the student could find another student to help them. I have seen in this district many times when conferences are scheduled for two nights in a week and it is not important enough for some teacher to make themselves available not even one of those nights. Many parents have gone into conferences just to see one particular teacher and find out that they are unavailable. I have heard about when a student is muttering to themselves working on a problem a teacher yells, “Shut-up!” to them. There was an instance when a child had been tested for whooping cough because her cough is so bad to be stated to the class by the teacher that they should be in movies because they are the drama king or queen.
As parents and people of the community where did we go wrong allowing our children to be put out in the streets so the pockets of the select few can be lined with more money? I listened to the media on Wednesday the 9th just to become sick to my stomach as I heard time and time again from their fearless leader that they have 95% of the community backing them, I for one do not believe this is true and would like the community to come out and take a poll. Parents, grandparents, uncles and aunts, parents to be, it is time to pull our heads out of the sand and speak our minds and find out where this community stands. There is error on both sides I am sure but a little more open minded time at the round table could have done wonders. On Tuesday the 8th the school was utter chaos, a few teachers sitting in their chairs with their feet up on their desk, kids running the halls and the bell had not even rung. What a pleasure to see our tax dollars at work. Higher pay and a lower academic school system should be the first red flag. Enough is enough, stand up for our kids….this is our job, lets get our kids off the streets and back in school and get the good teachers back in and gain control of the school. If all of them do not want to go then that is fine, keep the best, dismiss the rest, there are many fine teachers that would love to teach our children and raise their own families in the beautiful lakes area. Sometimes change is the best thing that could ever happen; let’s take a gamble and find out. Teachers will come and go our children are only children once and only have one chance for a good education.

Thank you for your ear,
