As it currently stands, Lincoln, Ravinia, Greenbay and Elm Place schools will in the 2017/18 school year as a result of BDR3 (budget deficit reduction). These school closures (in their entirety) are not in alignment with the plans and long-term education goals for the district that are currently in development by the Reconfiguration 2.0 committee, and stand to jeopardize the success of this team by limiting the building options available and losing the will of the community to align towards a future vision.

This vote can be amended/rolled back at any point by the school board, and this will most likely be attempted in April when a new school board is voted in. However, by then it will be too late as teachers will have ALREADY been let go from their positions. We need to show our current school board that there is community-wide support for slowing down BDR3 NOW. Please join us in this show of unity. Your voice matters.

I support slowing down/phasing in BDR3 so that we may:

• Lessen the immediate and long-term impact on our kids and our community, and
• Give the Reconfiguration 2.0 committee time to present a vision for the future of our district.
