Disabilites dont matter! What does matter are the amount of people who are victims of 'Disabilty Hate Crime'. Far TOO MANY people have been victims of DHC and its time the authorities took a stronger stand against these outrageous crimes. Some victims never recover from being beaten and broken and many see suicide as the answer, Do we really need to wait until more people die before the authorities start to take notice of this? As a victim of this monstrous crime and awful behaviour I find life to be a struggle, some times much worse than others. Some disabilitys are harder to live with than others and although they are nothing to be ashamed of, many victims of DHC see otherwise due to the abuse they have suffered in their lives. There is no reason for disabled people to suffer the way they sometimes do. The authorities are not taking a strong enough stand against DHC and have not used the power that they have under Section 146 of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 to hand out tougher sentences. Community service is not the answer to stopping this disgraceful behaviour! The people who bully others because of their disabilities should be locked behind bars, taught a proper lesson and not left to walk out on the streets with a few hours of community service.
