I can't see it as broadcasting proper, since he just seems to exist only to piss people off, rather than shock people into any sort of action. Savage, here's a word to the (obviously not so) wise guy: Don't act like a moron!Flag

Name: J.Smith on Jul 25, 2008Comments: We as a society are aiming to educate and be more understanding of any disability. Such comments by Mr Weiner are in danger of taking us back a step into the world of ignorance. Thousands of parents of children with autism have to endure comments and judgments about their parenting skills because society does not understand autism. Such parents have fought long and hard to gain a greater understanding of a child who has deficits in their ability to communicate at the same level as a neuro typical child. Perhaps Mr Weiner would like to increase his education of autism to a more 'accurate' level of understanding and make his apology to parents as public as his inaccurate opinion of autism.Flag

Name: Joann Abkemeier on Jul 25, 2008Comments: Autism has hit our family hard and it is real! My 12-year old grandson is nonverbal and has a receptive vocabulary of about 150 words. He functions at the level of about a 2 year old. The epidemic is real and devastating to families, who in most cases, get no support from insurance companies or their state governments. His horrific disabilities is a devastating condition that affects us all in our family physically and emotionally. Michael Savage should be fired for his insensitive, stupid, and inflammatory remarks. Any sponsor of his program with any sensitivity at all would and should withdraw their support. Let him spew his hate free of charge from a soapbox on street corners if he wishes to do so but don't fund his opinions on the airwaves. Thank you.Flag

Name: Amy D. Caraballo on Jul 25, 2008Comments: I am a big proponent for free speech. But Mr. Savage's comments were bordering slander and full of misinformation. His 'rant' and then the support for it after, gives society more reason to discriminate and ostracize those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. If his words had been about a racial community, this petition would be unnecessary.Flag

We deal with enough judgment and harassment from the general public, thank you very much. Mr. Savage is just giving the jerks in the world a free pass to continue to shoot their mouths off and discriminate against my autistic son.Flag

Name: Wanda Harkins on Jul 25, 2008Comments: As a SWF 48, Asperger's employed FT (earning less than $ 10 hrly), I disagree totally with Michael "Savage's" er,..um statements. I happened to grow up in the "Medieval Ages" of autism. No, I am not a brat, moron, etc. Fact: On account of it, I have led a diminished quality of life and today remain embarassed/ashamed whenever I am among others socially despite "achievements" that are often taken for granted by "normal society". Any "romance/love life" is nonexixtent. I have often witnessed others pass me by in life while I remain lonely, "behind" and stagnant. Today I get assistance from family. North Carolina has nothing for assistance programs for ADULTS (high school aged to senior citizens. Yes, both of my parents are retired in their 70's and I FEAR my future will be bleak. Perhaps "Loudmouth Lime" and Company can put their monies where their pieholes are and create or donate to such assistance programs. Perhaps a Second Chance Prom/Debutante Cotillion would give people a benefit idea Today I am not living the life I thought I would as I dreamed of as a kid. NO child I know wants to say they want to be a waitstaff server. As being parental aged, I would be embarassed to go into a school's "Career Day" if I had a child of that age who wants me to speak in front of a classroom (unless it was AS related)! I was robbed of it thus now am "Jonesing to Be Like The Joneses."Flag

My guess is that he would be uncomfortable when forced to realize that his beliefs were untrue.Flag

Name: Patricia Bernius on Jul 25, 2008Comments: Michael Savage is woefully uneducated about the realities of autism. My son is two years old, autistic, and I am paying for every single penny of his therapy. Contrary to what Savage believes, there are no government handouts for me. We are on waiting lists for "free" services through the public school systems, which ultimately are substandard and the providers indifferent. Mr. Savage, educate yourself before you discuss topics about which you know absolutely nothing.Flag

Name: Holly Jackson on Jul 25, 2008Comments: I pray that Michael Savage and all those who support him never have to parent a child with autism. It would be a terrible blow to that child who would never receive the proper treatment or support for the issues they struggle with. Savage's remarks are irresponsible, mean, and ignorant. He should educate himself and apologize and all those who support him should do the same. If he refuses to do that, he should be fired. I will be boycotting any advertisers I identify who do support Savage's program and therefore his ridiculous remarks.Flag

Name: Kelly Gardner Carlson on Jul 25, 2008Comments: I work with children diagnosed on the autism spectrum, and their families, and can assure you this is a real, neurobiological disability with varying degrees of acuteness. I am deeply offended by Mr. Weiner's ignorance, as well as TRN's refusal to repudiate his remarks. It is my sincere wish that Mr. Weiner and executives at TRN never have to confront this in their personal lives as they would be emotionally, psychologically, and intellectually incapable of providing needed understanding and support to a loved one in need.Flag
