The petition
The (Americans with Disabilities Act Title II: Public Transportation) law should be enforced by training MTA employees and fixing all their vehicle wheelchair lifts in order to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities because they should receive equal transportation services. The need for change is to provide proper transportation services for individuals with disabilities. Transportation is a major problem for individuals with disabilities. Transportation issues impact daily life, independence, self-sufficiency and ability to continue living at home. Lack of transportation leads to isolation and loss of independence. In order to provide equal transportation wheelchair lifts or ramps need to be installed or fixed on public transportation. MTA drivers need to be trained in operating wheelchair lifts or ramps.
∙ Harsh enforcement of the American Disability Act to equalize rights for handicapped individuals. Regular repairs and check ups for accessible equipment must be made. Wheelchair lifts or ramps need to be installed or fixed on public transportation. Drivers need to be trained in operating wheelchair lifts or ramps. Equalize transportation service rights for handicapped individuals.
