Subject: Constant Harassment and Mental Torture of Rights Activist Diep Saeeda by personnel of different intelligence agencies like ISI,IB and Special Branch

Respected Sir/Madam,

A citizen of Lahore and a peace activist ,Diep Seeda is the founder of Institute for Peace and Secular Studies (IPSS). She has been involved in numerous social and right based activities for the last fifteen years.. Her activities involve peace initiative with our neighbors particularly India and additionally involved in campaign against various injustices prevalent in our society regarding minorities, women, poor and the underprivileged.  
Following  her protests against the horrors of Shantinagar massacre in 1999, her visits to India as part of people to people peace initiatives and visits of some Indian delegates to her home, she has been constantly harassed and mentally tortured by various intelligence agencies .

She has been taken to various police stations , forcibly picked up from the Lahore Press Club by the intelligence personnel, constantly threatened on the phone through “private caller ID” and harassed through regular visits to her home. Additionally her mobile phone and contact diary have been stolen. It is very  depressing is that these agencies always ask the same questions’ who is you husband and provide us the detail of your family? ’Why are you interested in peace with India since India is our enemy’, ‘What is the source of your funding?’

Diep is a law abiding citizen of Pakistan with no links to any religious organization or a political party, and she works for the benefit of the people of her land within her constitutional rights and has nothing to hide from anyone. If intelligence agencies  want to investigate what she does they  should  carry out formal investigation in the manner prescribed by law and she is willing to answer all questions . This is her basic right and we request you to ensure it should not be denied.

Over the last few weeks intelligence personnel stationed outside her house they have often sought entry into her house. On demand of the proof of their identity, three officials have shown their identity cards purportedly issued by the ISI, IB and the special branch. Sadly their manner of interrogation has always been impolite, menacing and threatening.

We. the concerned citizens of different countries  appeal to you to register her complaint and order these personal to refrain from interfering with her rights, , those found guilty for transgressing their powers, harassment and acting outside the law should be suitably punished under the law.

Since she has been harassed to the extent that she has fear not only for her own  life, but that of her  children she  deposited copies of her  petition with her lawyer and human rights organizations so that they may take appropriate action in case something untoward happens.

We the citizens of different countries including India and Pakistan request you to take immediate preventive action so that harassment and terrorizing of peace loving citizens is put to an immediate stop.
