It is time for Mark Twain Lake to be opened up to private development. The proposal is that 2% of the lake shore be available in one acre and 1/2 acre lots for private residence and commercial development through long term leases with the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Clarence Cannon Dam and Mark Twain Lake were completed over 30 years ago with the promise of economic development in Northeast Missouri. It's time for this tax-payer owned lake to be opened up to development by the tax-payers so that new residents, new business and new dollars can flow through Northeast Missouri.
