As a result of the limited selection of internet service providers in Spokane, both business and residential customers suffer from underwhelming internet speeds and shoddy service. The lack of an affordable high-speed internet connection to citizens of Spokane not only frustrates residential customers, but also discourages businesses from establishing themselves in the City of Spokane.

In order to remedy these problems, the City of Spokane should establish its own community managed fiber-optic network to offer competitive internet services in the greater Spokane area. By doing this, the City of Spokane could improve the quality of life of its residents, expand the availability of internet service in Spokane, attract businesses to Spokane, and stimulate the local economy.
