Name: Zaheer Khalil on Dec 4, 2012Comments: I do not believe that funding should be cut to DV and that vulnerable people should be denied support to have a voice. I wonder how much the council would save if organisations like DV did not exist, surely many more vulnerable people will require a stay on an inpatient unit, and I wonder how much that stay would cost the local council.Flag

Name: Allan Bannister on Dec 4, 2012Comments: "They" talk about the "Big Society" & the need to take mental ill-health seriously in society, but then "their" "representatives" want to strip away support for local mental health groups, such as Derbyshire Voice, who are led, run and truly represent the users of mental health services and those with mental ill health - not to mention other user-led / grass roots organisations that are trying to care for / represent vulnerable groups. It's fundamentally WRONG!! Stop this, now, before there is no meaningful sense of a "society" (big, small or otherwise)Flag

Name: Michael Ian Edward Hill on Dec 4, 2012Comments: I think it is absolutely appalling that the council would even consider to cut funding to such a vital user-led Charity (And the only one of its kind in the Derbyshire area ) . Considering the fact that Derby City Council decided it was appropriate to spend £30m on refurbishing their Council house (and lets not forget where the money to build the Bus Station came from - a LOT of crumbling buildings and schools on the knife edge of closing thanks to THAT smart decision ) , I think they have gone too far. It's time for our council to start prioritizing the things that are important.Flag

Comments: Derbyshire Voice came about through the efforts of many service receivers, council staff , health service staff because it was a unique idea for user involvement. With more people than ever using mental health services a funding cut is only going to make this situation worse. many people have been helped by the organzsation gaining confidence and self esteem, I count myself one of these people.without DV service receivers voices would not be heard and sevices would be planned by people with no personal 3experience of what is needed.Flag -

Name: Richey Wheatcroft on Dec 4, 2012Comments: mental health service receivers are one of the most vulnerable, isolated and discriminated in society. For such a small sum out of the overall council budget, I think it is an outrage - no reduction just a straight 100% cut. Shame on whoever made this ignorant decisionFlag

Name: Ian Robinson on Dec 5, 2012Comments: The support for people with mental health problems is too easy a target for cuts. It is never a good time to cut back on spending in this area but with the increase in stress-related illnesses and depression caused by societal and economic changes, this can only be described as nothing short of disastrous.Flag
