Comments: The University of Oklahoma should condemn Dan Savage for his religious bigotry and, in the spirit of civility, extend a speaking invitation to someone with a pro-life, pro-family perspective.Flag -

Name: DENNIS DAVIS on Nov 28, 2012Comments: If person chooses to actively live in sin and receive the consequences of that sin either here or in the life after an earthly death that is their choice however this man is a blasphemer against God and the Holy Bible and abusive to the point that used his position of speaker to belittle students in other settings because of their faith. He is absurd and out of line. I find it disgusting the support I have given the university to have this man invited to Norman to speak. Someone didn't do their homework or instead using their position for the well being and stabilization of furthering education its being used to promote a personnel agenda of anti Christian propaganda and an attempt to erode the minds of our young people from a solid moral view as a way of conduct in life to if you read or believe the Bible you are as he has quoted in the past to students a pansy-ass. On the grounds of his previous actions towards young Christians I do not want him to be allowed to speak.Flag

Name: Mr. & Mrs. Edward C. Nessman on Nov 28, 2012Comments: 1) Anti-bullying is good, and it is good in all directions - keeping in mind that it is the conservative mindset that argued FOR the voice of Nazi's to have free speech back in the early 80's - and thus, also argued for free speech for skeezy people too. But when one watches to see how much freedom of speech homosexuals believe they can allow, one ought to see the writing on the wall. More than one (prominent) homosexual who has graduated law school knows all about the impact on freedom of speech and freedom of religion and freedom of association and freedom of conscience that their demands will make. They do not care. Where is the love in that? 2) Though true conservatives believe in free speech of any flavor, free speech, as protected by the government, is different than government subsidized speech; just as skeezy art is still skeezy art even when it is subsidized by art. Furthermore, *subsidized* skeezy speech and *subsidized* skeezy art are unconstitutional - for a reason. Of course, some speech is supposed to be funded by the government. What forms of speech should be funded by the government? Things like voting. Things like the discussions of representatives who are elected by and receiving instructions from the people. Things like educating the electorate in the principles upon which the Constitution has been standing (in the past anyway - it's only falling of late), and etc. 3) Skeezy opinions are merely that, skeezy opinions. They have no substance worth supporting with tax dollars - even in the legislature. 4) Skeezy opinions undermine liberty in this nation, namely: --freedom of religion --freedom of speech --freedom of association and --freedom of conscience 5) When a public school/public university uses tax payer dollars to promote the message of any man, woman, or sex-changed individual (who is neither a man or woman any more - and yes, I still have the freedom of speech to say so - but for how much longer?, and if my free speech goes, where does your go? and what would you like to say in a world of growing tyranny when tyranny reaches that much further into *your* life? but which you won't have the freedom to say?).... and that man who is using tax-payer funds, all for the purpose of bullying those with a differing religion, and/or belief system he is using tax-payer dollars both to defend his beliefs and to denegrate the beliefs of others, then.......: That is, in short, protecting, with tax dollars, a 'state established belief system', while at the same time, attacking a 'state enemy belief system,' all of which is unconstitutional and all of which destroys the Constitution, and thus, further ensures that your own future freedoms and liberties will be destroyed (yes, those same liberties: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, and freedom of conscience). After all, what will protect any of us from other tyrants who use tax payer funding for an even more tyrannical message? The Constitution won't if this continues unchecked. The Constitution is being destroyed. If it is destroyed, it cannot protect anyone. The only thing that protects our free speech to any degree today is the last shreds of support for the Constitution which still exist and which are still being exercised. We need to rebuild support for the Constitution, not undermine it (with tax-payer dollars no less). 6) In the schools where Dan Savage speaks, there is no freedom of speech for those who disagree with his bullying messages, such as the messages which denigrate and bully anyone and everyone who disagree with him. It is that same mindset which Dan Savage is promoting throughout this nation which is helping to develop a mindset in which universities are cracking down on: freedom of speech freedom of religion freedom of association and freedom of conscience yes, even at state funded universities. Again, those liberties are collapsing, but they might yet be preserved, if we turn this insanity around now! 7) As if the inherent loss of: freedom of religion freedom of speech freedom of association and freedom of conscience were not enough, there is more that is damaging to our society through such tax-payer funding, and that includes (but is not limited to): Neglect and abuse of the health of thousands upon thousands of children. Yes, though the truth is regularly suppressed (after all, we have little free speech left, and mostly have censored speech left to us), it is obvious to anyone who reads the real reports, and even to those who consider the natural consequences of healthy vs. unhealthy behaviors, that homosexual behavior is unhealthy - just ask any doctor who actually values freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, and freedom of conscience more than his pay check or more than being politically correct! He'll tell you the truth about what happens when unhealthy homosexual behaviors wreak havoc on real people who come to their offices with real problems - that is, ask about it if you really care about preventing such pain and suffering....... Indeed, homosexual behavior is more dangerous than smoking. Sure, some people who smoke live a long life, but you don't see schools promoting cigarettes! Why? Because that would be neglect and abuse. Some would even say that is paramount to murder. It is no different with the youth who are being corralled in our schools, who are being advised that risky behavior is not so risky, and then they go on to take that advice and....... reap the consequences in their own bodies - their own failing health - and have no one to turn to for answers but ......... the state which already neglected and abused them, and for what? ........ Stop the insanity! Stop destroying what liberties we have left - with tax-payer dollars no less - driving us that much further into debt while doing so!? Stop neglecting and abusing the nation's youth with tax payer funding, again, driving us further into debt while doing so! Stop putting these youths' health at risk - at tax-payer cost........, with the result that they will turn to the state demanding health care solutions for the unhealthy results they obtain from unhealthy behavior. What part of losing freedoms and liberties is worth this insanity? What part of going into debt is worth this insanity? What part of risking the health of so many youths is worth this insanity? What part of 'Stand up and do what is right!' do you still need to learn to understand?Flag

Name: Mary Kutz on Nov 28, 2012Comments: How is this related to education when students already get his opinion from media not funded with our taxpayer dollars? Institutions who give credibility to this kind of "curriculum"(????) without equal time from the Christian worldview to refute his comments are not educating but endorsing this perspective by giving it academic credibility. Such institutions are not educating but promoting one viewpoint and should be subject to State disciplinary action leading to loss of taxpayer funds.Flag
