Petition summary and background Prospective buyers of homes in May Valley who conducted due diligence and inquired about the school zoning before committing to purchase were informed that children in the neighborhood would attend Tom Ellisor Elementary School, a Magnolia ISD school recognized as exemplary. Rezoning plans, which had been underway for several months, were not disclosed to prospective buyers. Those plans could impact property values, resale ability, their children educations, and, had those plans been shared, may have precluded many from purchasing homes in the area. Action petitioned for We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge the Magnolia Independent School Board to delay the rezoning vote for at least one year to allow for an inclusive, transparent process that involves, shares information with, and solicits feedback from potentially impacted homeowners.
The feedback from fellow residents confirms that the lack of transparency regarding these rezoning plans has caused significant concern throughout our neighborhood. I am currently drafting a formal request to the school board to advocate for a more inclusive decision process. Please continue to monitor this space for further developments as we prepare for upcoming public meetings.

The significant momentum this petition has gained reflects a broad desire for transparency regarding our neighborhood zoning process. This level of engagement provides a strong foundation as we continue to advocate for a more inclusive approach from the school board.

Total bait and switch. The district needs to be honest about these plans before families get stuck with homes they wouldnt have bought otherwise.

We bought our house specifically for the school zone. This feels super shady to do right after so many of us moved in.

Dont rush this. Give us a year to actually see the impact on our kids schooling. So incredibly unfair to spring this on us now.
