DeKalb Watershed Management repeatedly bills residents of my neighborhood 10 times the normal - some are households of one person with no reason for that much water use - no pool, no more lawn/garden watering than usual, and all have had pipes checked by licensed plumber who found no leaks. We have talked to many DeKalb County residents who have experienced this same excessive billing, some as many as two times a year. Mistakes can be made - by the meter reader or the person keying in the information but it is frequency and prevalence of these "mistakes" and the unwillingness of DeKalb Watershed Management to respond and/or investigate in every instanced. Often, if DeKalb Watershed Management does respond, they stall for months with fines/fees accumulating, disconnect notices are sent and most residents have felt sufficiently intimidated that they have paid the bill. All have had subsequent bills that arein line with their normal billing amount - $50-60 per 2-month billing period. Is there something unethical going on here or is this just incompetence that, even for DeKalb County, is incomprehensible? Please sign the attached petition and write Burrell Ellis, CEO of DeKalb County and demand that there be an invetigation of DeKalb Watershed Management's billing practices.
