Shara BricePlease do not stop the effective, proactive work of NVSC. In a borough that is facing so many challenges with limited resources, it is short-sighted to stop funding an effective body, creating a crisis situation for those who have come to depend on NVSC's leadership, only to reinvest significant funding in "re-inventing the wheel." At this crucial time when Newham needs to be unified to face the challenges and opportunities before us, please invest energies in building stronger relationships through NVSC to address the greater community good, rather than looking for alternatives to suit certain personalities or agendas. The voluntary, faith and community sector are Newham's saving grace. No amount of statutory investment can replace the value of a cohesive community working together, communicating effectively, and sorting through challenges in a transparent manner.
AnonymousThe independence and impartiality offered by voluntary sector bodies operating independently of centralized information sharing systems and processes are essential. Voluntary sector 'independence' helps counter the impacts of authoritarian regimes threatening constitutional rights in democracies like the UK. This countries expanding surveillance infrastructure enables 'social sorting' at a distance. Targeted action already sorts and profiles people into simplistic categories based on 'risk' or 'profitability'. A practice which, if left unchecked, will continue to erode trust between state and its citizens. For this reason, funding the voluntary sector helps bolster the democratic process.

Sue McCarthyOn behalf of Age Concern Newham. Newham needs a strong well-resourced second-tier organisation. Re-inventing the wheel is time-consuming, wasteful and compromises the independence of the sector. If there are problems with NVSC then work with the sector to resolve them.
Max WeaverWe need a representative body for third sector organizations. NVSC might not be perfect but it has the support of the sector.
Mohiuzzaman KhanI would like to support the petition on behalf of our organisation
Angela BrivettThis is a vital organisation that has provided help and support to us here at the African and Caribbean Voices Association and so we urge the Council to rethink its decision.
Bokelo WeyaloNVSC has been supporting Salem Health Project since the organisation was set up. This is in various areas such as in funding (e.g. help for rent etc), in providing us with references for funding applications and also in capacity building support. Then stopping or decreasing their capacity of help to small organisations like ours, may be an equivalence of condemnation for many of this category of groups.

AnonymousNVSC has bridged a much needed gap over the last five year and have provided the infrastructures support needed within the borough. I feel deeply saddend that one individual can be so unprofessional as to negatively use their political power to run rough shot over an organisation and get away with it. What happened to government officers being transparent, fair and there to serve the needs to their constituents?
Joe FarrellNVSC has provided a valuable service to the "third sector" since its inception and has championed the cause of the sector. It should be funded to allow it to continue its valuable role twithin the local community.
Mabel Morgan
D.VardonThis is a valuable service that caters to disempowered parts of our local community and needs to be adequately funded if the government's inclusion progrem is to mean anything for the residents of Newham.

Simon Orphan, RLP ServicesRLP has benefited from the support and experience available at NVSC, and fail to see the logic of doing away with key staff & services only for it to be replaced by a similar (but unknown) body, with no timescale for his to happen; seems to lack the "joined up thinking" we are all supposed to be following. Similar issues with NRF & Children's Fund projects (including ours) ending in confusion, and this leaves a huge gap in voluntary sector delivery . With no body like NVSC to represent us where do we go? With the chaotic commissioning process for Culture & NewCEYS services the Mayor was quick to give a personal guarantee that currently funded projects (on only a ONE year contract) would get continuation funding to the end of June whilst the commissioning process went on. Surely there is a precedent to do the same here? At least this would allow continuity of service and give NVSC a chance to bid to be the new service provider at whatever distant date the new specification finally becomes available.

Molly PorterI hope funding for the Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium will be renewed, showing good faith on the part of Newham Council. The partnership/contractual culture is showing itself to betray the community and existing viable community groups.

Su Bhuhinvsc is a most needed resource for the voluntary sector organisations. The voluntary sector is battling with difficult times and now more than ever, nvsc's support is crucial. We at Aanchal have received considerable support from NVSC, whom we have found most helpful, approachable and with a wealth of expertise and knowledge. We hope to see NVSC continue its services in the future.
Shahan IslamThrough my work in third party community based service provision, I have found the services provided by NVSC to be invaluable. It is crucial to have a recognisable and familiar central body co-ordinating the work of the voluntary sector who are vulnerable and face many challenges.

ola matemilolaPlease, DO NOT withdraw funding from Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium. The council cannot provide (under mutual trust) the same services as the NVSC has been doing in the past few years.

newham horn o african associationwe are the Newrham horn o African Association who volutarily work with the Horn of African Community of newham for the last 3 years.we received from the NVSC help such as:support for organisational development, funding advice capacity bulding, news lettere-puleting ect... We support NVSC to continue their positive work as accustomed and deliver us their support.
Malathy MuthuNVSC has supported our centre ( London Tamil Sangam) in its capacity building activities, providing training and enabling to secure resources. I am also awre that many organisations like us had good support for NVSC. Also their newsletter is very useful and I usually used to wait one from them to know information about other Newham based organisations, resources and funding info. I really wonder if council can replace this valuable service when they are behind comissioning and closing grants which is much needed for small organisations.
