Richard Richcomms Kombe | there is a need for this organisation and closing it down will leave a vacum in the London Borough of Newham.
Anonymous | As a council employee I have to keep my ID secret. I am ashamed to be working for a council which views the third sector as a threat. This shows the council has no commitment whatsoever to either the letter or the spirit of the compact.
fatima seedat | No closer highly valuble service
S. Osmani | NVSC has proved it's need in Newham and Newham Council should stop getting rid of the assets of the borough. Save NVSC now!
John McNeill | Who the other "second tier" organisations should be made known as soon as possible. I am ver concerned that one such organisation has such an insestuous relationship with the Council that it will be prepared to do anything for money. One such group has organised community events on behalf of Community Forums when it knows full well that the Community Forums have been shut down. This group is participating in a deception and should be ruled out at an early stage.

Ruzina Begum |
Faisal Bakht | NVCS provide a valuable service.
Peter Watherston |
Andre Ntenda | I think having an existing and independent body to continue with its activities of supporting the third sector is a good idea.
S Daniel |
Mike Shallcross | NVSC has been doing vital work in Newham
Jacqui Finn | I fully support the above petition.

Anonymous | the third sector thrives on the work done by organisations such NVSC. it is therefore a very shorted sighted decision to threaten the future of NVSC in one of the poorest borough in the UK.
A. K. Sheikh. | I pledge my support on behalf of "Newham North Islamic Association" for NVSC's continuity to serve the community in its' present role.
Alan Craig | Full support for NVSC and the work it does for and on behalf of the community, faith and voluntary sectors.
Mary Forse |
Space Clottey | Voice of Africa Radio.com received a great support and funding from this organisation which eventually helped VOAR to win it's FM licence bid 94.3FM in 2006. Hence fully support Newham Voluntary Sector Consortium.
Gloria Awosika | Omega community living received a lot of support with the small grant programme and capacity build ing programme from the NVSC at the start of this charity. Omega community living could not have survived or be in exisitence without the individualised help and capacity building support for our management committe members and staff. The voluntary sector meetings were a forum to network and has used that to build good partnerships in and around Newham. It was the small grant that helped to pay for volunteers, and small rent at the st. luke's business centre when we could not afford to pay volunteer expenses or rent our space. I have personnally received great support from staff such as Corrine, and Ali, always at hand to support in grant application, and use the funder finder to identify suitable funding. They would also sign post to available trainings within and outside the borough. We at Omega Community Living were mealy an idea but help to grow into a charity status with the support from the NVSC. Space cannot allow me to say more. Without there support many community groups who are deliverying well meaning services will go under.

Peter Laing | NVSC provide valuable support to the communty sector and should not be replaced.

T.B.Rajah | We strongly lodge our protest against the decision of the Newham council to stop funding the NVSC
Amy White |
jo sell | See my letter in the Newham Recorder
Ali Safder | NVSC provide a great service. If something is not broken, why try to fix it??? The Council should be proud of the way NVSC have supported the third sector be be strong.... and together.

Home-Start Newham | It would be a travesty to lose such an invaluable organisation who support and ensure voluntary sector organisations have a voice in the borough. Moreover the NVSC keeps us up to date with current news and issues we need to be aware of.
| 82 | ibrahim hersi | we, wholeheartedly support the nvsc for their case
with the newham council. |

| 84 | Anonymous | We have found the services of NVSC extreamley useful. We believe this organisation adds to the fabric of Newham and the community ethos of the borough.
We would like to kindly request that Newham continue to fund the service as it is helping the borough in its quest to work with the community. |

Parmjit Singh | NVSC provides a very much needed service to the voluntary. community and faith sectors in Newham. It would be a great loss if they were unable to continue there valuable community development work on behalf and for the wide range of groups they work with.
Ade Fashade | The council's procrastination on this issue goes against the directive of government to councils of empowering local people through local structures such as NVSC. It also goes against Compact. Could it be that this decision by Newham is politically motivated, in order to silence the representative voice of the community sector at local level and nullify NVSC as a critique of the local 'status quo'?

Coalition for Independent Action | Our objection is to the draft service specification for the work the Council wants done by a second tier voluntary agency. In our view, the work suggested is to further the agenda of the Council and does not focus on furthering the agendas of local voluntary action. As such, the work should be done by a Council officer, not by a voluntary organisation. Should a voluntary agency agree to the service specification, it would no longer, in our view, be an independent organisation but an agent of the local authority, doing its bidding.
Christos Tzanetis |
bo chapman and Zoe flynn from Salmagundi | N.V.S.C. has a vital role to play in Newham.
Val Fone |
Sinead Lunney | I HAVE WORKED IN THE VOLUNTARY SECTOR IN NEWHAM FOR A NUMBER OF YEARS AND FOUND THAT THE SUPPORT AND ASSISTANCE PROVIDED BY THE NVSC WAS VERY BENEFICAL AND INDEED AT TIMES THE ONLY SUPPORT RECEIVED BY SMALL COMMUNITY GROUPS. PROVIDING THE ORGANISATION WITH WITH CONFIRMATION OF FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND CONTINIOUSLY FINANCING THE GREAT SERVICES AND SUPPORT THEY PROVIDE WILL NOT ONLY HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE IMMEDIATE GROUP BUT A GREAT IMPACT ON RANGE OF SERVICES PROVIDERS AND LOCAL COMMUNITY GROUPS AND ULTIMATELY THE RESIDENTS OF NEWHAM
| 97 | Anonymous | NVSC has fully supported voluntary organisations
in Newham |
Michael Gavan | NVSC does a brilliant job supporting the voluntary sector in Newham and fully deserves to keep its funding - Newham Council should think again
