Not everyone who has a legitimate complaint obtains a lawyer to represent them in court. Many people go to court and represent themselves either because they lack the money to afford an attorney,they can't find one willing to represent them, or they feel that they would rather represent themselves for whatever reason; or any combination of the above. My name is Charles Holmes and out of necessity I filed a lawsuit against my employer as a pro se plaintiff. My case was originally filed in State Superior Court in New Jersey and later it was removed to U. S. District Court. After three years in court handling all aspects of the case (in both state and federal court) from propounding interrogatories to filing several motions, the last of which was a motion to compel discovery of defendants,a federal judge in Newark now wants to throw my case out of court because I could not obtain legal representation within a two week period of time that he had ordered. The Judge issued an order requiring that I obtain counsel, but he never made sure that I received the order and then proceeded with another order for me to show cause why my case should not be dismissed because I did not get counsel. These whole series of events are predicated, in my opinion, on the Judge’s bias toward pro se litigants and I believe his order is unconstitutional, but if not— it should be. The right of each American to bring his or her grievance or complaint before the courts is the bedrock of the American Judicial System and that right should not be dependent on if you can obtain an attorney to represent you in court. The government and courts have been systematically eroding the rights of the American citizens to the point that we have little rights left in this country. Let’s take a stand and stop this assault on one of the precious few rights that we have left and stop this before it sets a precedent in the American Justice System.

Let’s not have pro se mean no say in the American Justice System.
