Defend the Whales and Dolphins around the Faroe Islands.

Since the 11th Century and almost every year since, long finned pilot whales and some other species of dolphin have been driven into bays around the Faroe Islands and killed. Known as grindadraps.
Why the Faroe Islands? You may ask. Well for those that have not heard, there is a tradition, that's been pasted down from many generations, its called the grind. Short for the word GRINDABOÐ.FO , grind meaning pod of whales. The word boð means "message". Therefore grindaboð means "message about grind".

It is around the coastline of the Faroe Islands (about 655 kilometres off the coast of Northern Europe and the islands closest neighbours being the Northern and Western Isles of Scotland) that the slaughter of entire pods of small cetaceans takes place - not usually done for profit, not for the capture of small cetaceans for entertainment at those despicable dolphinariums, certainly not required to feed a 'starving subsistence hunting community' as the Faroese have a nominal GDP (per capita) of $50,300 and a human development index of 0.95 classed as 'very high' the Faroe Islanders have one of the highest standards of living in the world - but these medieval Grind hunts still happen today because it seems to be considered 'traditional Viking fun' by many of the Ferocious Islanders.

The Faroe Island have been ruled, with brief interruptions, by the Danish government since1388.

During the summer months, inhabitants of the Faroe Islands - a group of islands under the sovereignty of Denmark, situated roughly halfway between Norway and Iceland - celebrate a cultural tradition called the grindadrap or the "grind," literally translated as "whale murder."

Faroese whalers perpetrate the traditional butchery by surrounding entire pods of whales and dolphins with motor boats and driving them into the shallows -- where other residents are waiting for the kill. Disoriented, exhausted and terrified, the animals are forced to beach themselves. Reveling islanders use blunt-ended metal hooks to spear the whales' blowholes and drag them up the beach. Then they murder the helpless animals with a knife cut to their major blood vessels.

During this summer's cruel and unnecessary grind, Faroese residents slaughtered over 460 pilot whales.

I beg you to stand up and put an end to this. the world will support you.

Thank You.
