Name: Amanda Ramsay on Feb 26, 2013Comments: Politics and international relations is a vital subject area and I suspect if marketed well, with talks in local sixth form colleges and classes to encourage and explain the course content. I would be a roving ambassador for politics study if you would like me to help.Flag

Comments: Good luck, we need to get back to thinking of education in terms of the good it does for society and not profit!Flag -

Name: Dr Peter Barlow on Mar 2, 2013Comments: I learned with dismay of this proposal. It seems senseless unless there is some covert motive which the Vice Chancellor has not revealed. Even if so, for a University of UWE's standing, this Honours course should be retained - and strengthened to encourage post-graduate entrants who might even help pay for the UWE's maitenance.Flag

Comments: I am appalled. I did IR at UWE from 2007 to 2010 and it was amazing. Great and dedicated lecturers, interesting modules and fantastic overall experience.Flag -

Name: Christian Walker on Mar 6, 2013Comments: I studied International Relations at UWE, 2007-2010 (05501781). I now work as a civil servant at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Both my desire and my ability to work there can be traced back to my time at UWE. And I can't help but notice, there aren't many working class kids like me working at the FCO. And that's sad. But what's far sadder, is that there won't be many there in the future. Because the universities which working class kids go to are closing down the routes to those sorts of jobs. Especially with a system now based on increasingly uneven tuition fees. To me, that's sad. To a man in Steve West's position, it should be shameful.Flag

Name: Jennifer O'Neill on Mar 10, 2013Comments: I completed my undergraduate degree in Politics at UWE, before going on to a Masters degree elsewhere. Without the enthusiasm of lecturers and tutors at UWE, I wouldn't have been inspired to do so. I was Sports Vice President of UWESU during my final year. I'm really disappointed that this action has been promised, and will support efforts to maintain teaching in this subject area.Flag

Those are disciplines that open people's minds, engage us with important questions and make us feel we want and can change the world and make it a slightly better place in some ways. Stoop the cuts!Flag
