Comments: As a previous student in DPIR I believe in the strength of the department, having also worked for the university, it is one of - if not the - strongest department in the university. As a result of the skills I gained in DPIR I have completed very prestigious internships and job roles and have also moved onto a Master's degree at an incredibly prestigious French university. DPIR is fundamental to the future of Westminster and should be help up as a positive an example to other internal departments. It should not have to endure cuts.

Comments: The Politics staff at UWE are well known in the field for their contribution to innovation in learning and teaching in the UK, as well as for their contribution to interesting research projects. It would be a travesty if such a talented group of staff (and their students) would find themselves without a home.

Comments: Decreasing political studies in the UK has the result of increasing the "democratic deficit" and reducing the overall pool of political students at a time when there is already a political elite coming mainly from the Oxbridge educational system. Politics must be widely available as a subject otherwise we will find the political apathy in the UK worsening year on year.

Comments: If this cut comes to pass, then I am ashamed of my alma mater. Ashamed, but not surprised: I could see the writing on the wall in 2008, when Chancellor West, opening the Distinguished Executive Address lecture, stated – naturally without irony or, heaven forbid, foresight - that there “was much that Universities could learn from the banking industry”. And so here and now we see the result of such dire ambitions. A so-called University being shorn of its Humanities – its moral, philosophical and cultural underpinnings.
