Did you know that the Township of Lake Orion stands to loose237 Acres of Lake Orion Green? Our township supervisors are NOW consideringa decision that would represent the largest re-zoning in more than 35 years and an unprecedented decision to eliminate 237 Acres of recreational zoned land to make way for a subdivision development of 387 homes. Why even have zoning laws if deep pockets and litigation threats can lay them to the wayside?

Orion Township Board of Trustees have alreadygranted developments totaling more than 740 homes to be built within Orion Township THIS YEAR ALONE! While these developments are in residentially zoned areas, now they are wanting to take away our recreational land...bordering Bald Mountain State Recreational area no less.

Our township trustee's have the power to prevent the loss of this green space...and as inconceivable as it sounds, we, the electorate and public at large, must convince them that this is the right thing to do. A developer requesting a re-zoning of this scale is unprecedented! The consideration of abandoning the townships master plan under request of a development company is staggeringly alarming to nearly every township resident that is aware of what is happening. And that is what this petition is primarily meant to do... raise awareness, and gather irrefutable evidence of the value the electorate holds for green space and recreational lands to encourage outdoor activities and youth sports in our area and to those who come to visit.

Help me and thousands of other like minded and concerned citizens to spread the word and support this effort to protect recreational green space in our area. Help us set the precedent of protecting the value of our recreational green spaces to help serve others in protecting theirs.
